Who we are
Franjos is a small company in Germany which publishes board-games and card-games. The company was founded in 1987. The name franjos resulted from the first letters of the christian name Franz-Josef. Franz-Josef was the christian name of the founder of franjos (Franz-Josef Herbst) and of the author (Franz-Josef Schulte) of the first published game .The name of the first game was ALADDINS ERBE which appeared in 1987 and is sold out today.
franjos games are made for families with elder children and adults. And we have some 2-person-games in our program.
The most popular games have been BILLABONG, BLACK BOX, BUZZLE, CAN´T STOP and HYLE.BILLABONG (1994) and BUZZLE (1995) have been on the list "Spiel des Jahres". This is a very important list which is published in Germany and lists the best games of the year. The jury of Spiel des Jahres consists of journalists.
Although most of our games are called board-games we don´t really use a board. We normally use a playing map made of imitation leather.
